grammy award winning mixer myke aaron discovered his love for music early in life. playing piano since age 12, it was while performing with various bands in texas that he found his talent for recording music on both sides of the glass. looking to hone his craft, he moved to los angeles to study at the renowned university of southern california. after graduating with a bachelor of science degree in music recording, and with three regional tours and a few independent productions under his belt, he moved across town to take a position at what is now soundcubed studios west.
proving to be the perfect environment for showcasing his many abilities, soundcubed enabled myke to work with a variety of world-class clients on a daily basis. quickly rising through the ranks, he finally stepped out into the world of freelance engineering and production. myke is equally at home in a wide variety of musical styles including pop, rock, hip-hop and r&b, electronica, jazz, gospel and even the broadway stage! confident in all aspects of recording, especially pro tools, this combination of technical expertise and a unique musical ear give him an edge over many other engineers in the music industry. some of his recent clients have included chris brown, jennifer lopez, snoop dogg, tori amos, madonna and the late luther vandross.
with such a wide variety of clients demonstrating diversity and adaptability, one would be hard pressed to find a project that wouldn't benefit from his experience. myke is first and foremost a musician, one who uses both his ears and his imagination to help all of his clients realize their artistic visions.
myke believes that the last stages of production (including mixing and mastering) have become increasingly critical, especially for independent releases due to the influx of desktop computer "home studio" productions. because of the production habits of many producers, the mastering process has become more vital than ever. the daw allows many more options to all stages of production, which lends even more importance to the mastering process.
when asked about the most important aspect of his role in the recording process myke says, "helping the artist and producer translate their vision without compromise is what i strive for."
